From
the story of Efe, it was obvious he suffered from ignorance that cost him a
lot. He never knew how much he was worth, hence the troubles he went through
not to talk of the shame, embarrassment and dejection that accompanied his
being an ignoramus.
Just
like Efe, there are lots of believers that are wallowing in the mire of
ignorance which has caused them untold and unnecessary hardship in life, living
a life not befitting the status of a true child of God that has it all.
My
people are destroyed for lack of knowledge (Hosea 4:6); knowledge in this bible
verse does not translate to mean scientific, art, management or everyday
knowledge; it basically means the knowledge of the word of God and the
revelation of God himself.
Most
believers are ignorant of the inheritance that has been bequeathed through the
death and resurrection of Jesus Christ. They are completely oblivious of their
right in Christ; hence they suffer seriously for nothing just like Efe. What a
pity!
The
testament (will) Jesus left us to know our inheritance in Him is found in the
whole of the New Testament. The New Testament helps us to know who we are and
our position in Him. It tells us what we have been delivered from and the
things that have been delivered into our lives. It opens our eyes to our
glorious inheritance in Christ Jesus.
Ignorance
is a strong weapon the enemy is using to deprive a believer the knowledge of
his inheritance in Christ. A believer does not need to suffer from the
blindfold of Satan. He needs to bury himself in the word of God to see himself
and his inheritance in Christ, for the word of God is a mirror that reveals who
we are in Him. The more we behold the mirror, the more we know who we are in
Christ Jesus.
